Imam Ali al-Rida عليه السلام
عَلِيّ الرِّضَا
The eighth Imam, the one whom Allah is pleased with, who carried the message into far Khurasan.
Imam Ali al-Rida عليه السلام
Forced into the position of crown prince by al-Ma'mun, he wore the cloak of the world without letting it touch his heart. He gathered scholars of every faith in debate and showed them, with calm and clarity, the truth of tawhid. His shrine in Mashhad is one of the most beloved gardens for the believer's heart.
Contentment with Allah's decree
Name one thing you have been frustrated about. Say once, slowly: 'al-hamdu lillah ʿala kulli haal.' Notice what loosens.

O Allah, I have hopes that only You can fulfil, and sins that only You can forgive — by Your mercy, accept me.

Their light in the Book of Allah
His debates explained the verses of tawhid, prophethood, and the verses about the Family of the Prophet ﷺ with clarity that silenced opposition gently.
قُل لَّا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَىٰ
“Say: I do not ask of you any reward for it except love of those near of kin.”
The Prophet ﷺ asks for no payment for his message — only that the Ummah love his near family. Love for the Ahlulbayt (ع) is the reward of prophethood.
إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا
“Allah only wishes to remove all impurity from you, O People of the House, and to purify you with a thorough purification.”
Allah testifies to the purity of the Ahlulbayt (ع). The grammar shifts in the middle of the verse — singling them out — and the Prophet ﷺ gathered Ali, Fatima, Hasan, and Husayn (peace be upon them) under his cloak when this was revealed.

A lesson for children
Imam al-Rida said that whoever is kind to those weaker than him, Allah is kind to him. Be the kind one — animals, the young, the old, all of them.
