Whispered Prayer of Lovers
My God, who has tasted the sweetness of Your love and then desired another in place of You? Who has become familiar with Your closeness and then sought any substitute? My God, place us among those whom You have chosen for Your nearness, whom You have purified for Your love, whose hearts You have made yearn for the meeting with You, whose souls You have gentled with contentment in Your decree. You have planted the trees of love for You in their hearts and watered them with the rain of Your kindness, until the harvest of nearness ripened in them. They walk among people, but their hearts walk with You. They speak to people, but they listen for You. O God, do not let me die except as one of these. Do not let me leave this world except with the taste of Your love still on my tongue.
Ahlulbayt (ع) treat love of Allah not as poetry but as a relationship that ripens, slowly, daily, in small acts that no one sees.
Choose one act today, small, secret, that is only between you and Allah. Tell no one. Let the love be private.
