When the Heart Feels Alone
My God, You are the companion of every solitary one, the intimate of every stranger, the present with every absent one, the wealth of every poor one, the strength of every weak one, the refuge of every fugitive. My God, when sleep takes the eyes of the people and they leave me to my night, You remain. When the houses fall silent, the door between us does not close. Be the companion of my solitude. Be the friend of my heart in the moments no one else can reach. Place in the silence Your remembrance, so that I do not feel alone, even when I am alone. And let me know, with a knowing deeper than words, that the One who created me has not left me to face this hour by myself.
Loneliness is one of the most honored states in the path of Ahlulbayt (ع), because it is in loneliness that the heart learns the company of Allah.
Speak to Allah, out loud, in your own language, for two minutes, as you would to a trusted friend. He listens more attentively than any.
